Comments

Back to more in keeping with Platinum, Five Miles Out starts with a long instrumental(ish) track, reminiscent of his 70s work. "Taurus II" rather cheekily reuses most of the themes from the title track. I'm not sure which came first, but it works equally well here and in the more rock-orientated "Five Miles Out".

The title track and "Family Man" are the only real songs on the album, and are both quite good. "Orabidoo" OTOH is an odd beast, with its music box intro, mellow beats and vocordered vocals, building up to a frantic climax, then building up again to a more relaxed climax, finishing of with a quiet vocal section. "Mount Teidi" is a completely instrumental piece which reminds me of Islands, only less epic.

Overall not bad, but no doubt the remastered version sounds even better.
