Comments

Trip hoppers Massive Attack put out this album, which I regard as their best so far, in 1998 around the same time as Mike Oldfield put out Tubular Bells 3 - they both appeared on the same episode of Later with Jools Holland to promote their respective albums. That appearance prompted me to buy this album.

Mezzanine is particularly slow and moody, full of low urgent vocals and gothic beats. This produces some great music, especially "Teardrop" which is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever. Unearthly distorted sounds and beats gives this album a distinctive atmosphere. Brilliant.
