Comments

Possibly the best sound quality for a Dead Can Dance album, whether it's Gerrard's complex yet soulful vocals or Perry's deep doom-laden enunciation. There is some classic DCD here: the steady rhythm of "The Ubiquitous Mr Lovegrove", the acapella lament of "The Wind that Shakes the Barley", the gentle weaving of lyrics and melody of "Ariadne". Their policy towards exotic instruments seems to be to use them as much as possible, using all manner of pipes, drums, strings and (at one point) even what sound like wind chimes, making songs sound at once rich and old world.

If you get any Dead Can Dance album, get this one.
