Comments

Alanis' first album is shot through with bitterness and rage. This raw emotion, mostly lacking from her later albums, is precisely what makes it great. She snarls her way though tracks such as "All I Really Want" and "Right Through You" with vigour. Songs come to life in a way they don't on MTV Unplugged. This is Alanis at her best.

There are also a few less heavily emotional songs such as the brilliant "Hand in my Pocket", the acapella hidden track "Your House", and the much maligned "Ironic". The later track has gained much notoriety for its questionable definition of irony, which ironically gained it more press than it would otherwise have gotten.
